On June 21, the Oromo community of Los Angeles honored members of the community Oromo graduates by joining the parents of one of the graduates who conferred a party to honor their daughter's achievement. This colorful party was held in the presence of Mohamed Shieka, the young Oromo artist from Minnesota, who helped to make it one of the memorable events. There were three graduates from prestigious universities, two with doctoral and a bachelor degree.
Education empowers, liberates by sharpening and broadening the horizons of thought. In today's world, it has become an essential tool to achieve self-sufficiency. Such was the massage conveyed to the graduates and they were put on notice that their scarce skills are much needed to build a viable Oromo Nation. To commemorate this achievement the community awarded placards and gifts in scripted with purposeful memos. Some from our sister Oromo communities of San Diego and Las Vegas attended the event that helped Orommumaa to shine in one of the trendiest part of the city of Angeles.
On June 23, the community held its regular meeting to assess where the community stands after busy schedule in the last six months, during which it actively engaged in varies events. The community raised many funds for different causes; all the same trying to strengthen the community by deliberately engaging in uplifting Orommumaa amongst members and beyond. Moreover, it adapted all the resolutions passed on the Oromo Conference held in Los Angeles on April 26.
Furthermore, during this period,
the community formally established soccer and volleyball teams named LAOromos.
One community member volunteered to buy uniforms for both teams.
That is a good will borne by the sprit of uplifting Oromumma. For
what he has given shall be replaced by much more blessing.
The teams intend to participate
in a now popular sport tournament of Oromo Sport Federation of North America.
By doing so, our youth will meet fellow brothers and sisters and nurture
the sense of belongingness and a nation-hood.
The Oromo community of Los Angeles would like to appreciate all the Oromos who contacted us by phone, in person, and e-mails with constructive messages about the recent event held in Los Angeles. Thank you for your kind words and encouragements. Conversely, we wish all Oromos to have a safe and enjoyable experience when on travel to conferences and sporting events this summer.
Finally, when we organized this past conference in Los Angeles, we invited all Oromo organizations across the board. Yet, we would like to make clear, we stand to work with and encourage all legitimate organizations embarked on generational endeavor of struggle to emancipate the Oromo people.
Likewise, our goal is not to pick one organization over another but to bring them all together to achieve our ultimate goal of liberation for all Oromos. In view of that, we urge all Oromo organizations and fronts to work together ultimately unite to remove the last vestiges of Abyssinian Empire from Oromia.
Victory to the Oromo people
